I was very impressed with MCN's video of the Triumph Speed 400 but for those Scottish B roads and some country rambles, the Triumph Scrambler 400 X would probably be a better choice. I recently enjoyed the opportunity of sitting on the Scrambler at Two Wheels in Edinburgh, Scotland and the fit and finish were excellent.

You can build your own using the Triumph Scrambler 400 X Configuration link. NOTE: As of 18th October 2023, all the accessories prices have still to be announced but it is worth a routine check on the link.

The first full reviews on this motorcycle and the Technical Specifications and Features look very promising with the bike weighing in at 179Kg wet. The bike has traction control which is a nice feature for those wet downpours in Scotland. The reviews always show some negatives and the main ones for the Scrambler are the lack of brake and clutch lever adjustments with the brakes requiring a lot more pressure on the brake lever to pull her up.

Triumph have a first class Accessories List for the Scrambler 400 X.

Pannier Rail & Bag
The pannier kit appears very impressive. I like the look of the bag and it sports a nice handle. Perhaps there is also a shoulder strap for it? -
